Early this year,in my workspace i met a young person by the name of Bradley Abrahams. He was 15 years of age at the time and was challenged with an awaiting trial. During his stay at the detention centre Bradley longed for his family, especially his mother. The boy had one wish and that was to resume school in order to be able to read and write. Fortunately i was able to get him back to school after approximately three waisted years. He gained back his confidence and was coping well all the time.
In the month of July he was bitten by his brother's pit bull dog and has been hospitalised for he few days.He recovered well and the dog has been removed from the premises. There were times when he had no travelling fare to go to school but it did not interfere with his willingness. His mother has been very happy for the change about her son.On a weekly basis i will make contact with the young person telephonic-ally or a home visit when necessary.
He is also faced with family circumstances, like his father was away from home for a while, food was an issue at times, including a shortage of other basic needs.Still he tried to be strong. It happened when his elder brother moved out and Bradley got permission to stay in the room attached to their
house.I was not pleased with the idea but could not do much.Well i have raised my opinion towards him living partly on his own.
I had noticed a decline in his school attendance and also in his dress code.It has been winter and at times he had reason to be absent from school. Then he started to be out of school for no reason.Last week he was suspended for smoking dagga,i had to take him back the day after and he was accepted on contract basis.
