STORY OF HOPE

Fighters and compatriots

The dawn of the Economic Freedom Fighters is upon us. What better thing could have happen in the new age of time towards 2014. This will be indeed be an economic revolution towards bringing change in the lives of people.

EFF has 7 cardinal principles that needs to be made alive in the Western Cape. These principles should not only be on paper will soon be alive in the Western Cape, this does not imply that EFF is not alive. However it can only be made alive through active campaigns that will touch the lives of people and made a difference towards economic freedom in our live time.

Story Of Hope

Early this year,in my workspace i met a young person by the name of Bradley Abrahams. He was 15 years of age at the time and was challenged with an awaiting trial. During his stay at the detention centre Bradley longed for his family, especially his mother. The boy had one wish and that was to resume school in order to be able to read and write. Fortunately i was able to get him back to school after approximately three waisted years. He gained back his confidence and was coping well all the time.

In the month of July he was bitten by his brother's pit bull dog and has been hospitalised for he few days.He recovered well and the dog has been removed from the premises. There were times when he had no travelling fare to go to school but it did not interfere with his willingness. His mother has been very happy for the change about her son.On a weekly basis i will make contact with the young person telephonic-ally or a home visit when necessary.

He is also faced with family circumstances, like his father was away from home for a while, food was an issue at times, including a shortage of other basic needs.Still he tried to be strong. It happened when his elder brother moved out and Bradley got permission to stay in the room attached to their
house.I was not pleased with the idea but could not do much.Well i have raised my opinion towards him living partly on his own.

I had noticed a decline in his school attendance and also in his dress code.It has been winter and at times he had reason to be absent from school. Then he started to be out of school for no reason.Last week he was suspended for smoking dagga,i had to take him back the day after and he was accepted on contract basis.

Blake

He is 6 weeks old and weigh's 2.790 and amazingly beautiful if I may add.

6 weeks ago at 4am thursday morning I got a call a from Shelby's mom saying,Shelby's contractions are 4 minutes apart,I replied,it can't be its not yet time.
Got out of bed to get dressed, extremely worried at this time, got into my car and rushed over to her place. While driving to her place I couldn't stop thinking why is he coming so early,I've read about how dangerous it is for a baby to come out of its mothers womb before the actual due date, feeling emotional I pulled up infront of her parents house walked to the door and before I entered shook off that negative feeling.
She was in so much pain and I felt so helpless, there was absolutely nothing I could do to take the pain away.

We arrived at the hospital and they took her straight into a room where I could not enter yet,the doctors told me that they needed to do a check-up on her and the baby and that they would let me enter once it was much closer to the time of birth.
I sat outside that room for 6 hours which felt like 6 months, fighting with my emotions but keeping my thoughts positive, wanting to cry but keeping myself strong for the 3 of us.It struck 11:00am and the doctor called my name,I walked into the room and there she was lying,I couldn't believe how much pain she was in........to be continued

Speed Dating

The most disconcerting thing about Speed Dating is that you may find someone interesting in the first three minutes of meeting them. but it may not necessarily be who they really are. You could also meet a fe unfortunate good souls that easily fell through the proverbial trap of putting their not so "best foot" first. Being governed by a stopwatch doesn"t always help when intrigued by your 'Speed Date" One can never really tell much about the other person other than use key words & guage their reactions in body language as well as choice of words. This may give you a glimpse of insight into their life, & we may unfairly conclude that this qualifies us to judge them .
I find that i am almost always drawn to spirit within the person.. How does he/she handle a good or an unfortunate situation?  When faced with a rainy day... do we say "Geez what a miserable day!" or..."Wow! what a great day to be indoors & enjoy a good movie or play a boardgame with the loved-ones  !!" Meeting new people & taking your time by being honest is far more honourable than to go about haphazardly committing to a relationship that you form for frivolous reasons.
I have learnt in life in order to gain respect we have to give respect. To have a friend , we should be prepared to be a friend. To have someone to love You have to then go out there show Love to those you meet....THE BEGINNING OF LOVE STARTS WITH A SMILE......

HOPE-THE EXPECTANCY OF GOOD

Sometimes life throws us a curve ball and that life which seemed so together, just falls apart. It literally feels like the earth has opened up and swallows you alive. Likened to an earthquake- I would compare it to. And as life would have it be, you trudge along-not understanding, yet doing what needs to be done, for as we know, time and life waits on no man!  To cut a long story short- you can fill in the details of your own life-time passes and life begins to get back on track through the workings and grace of God in one's life. Because there's a purpose and plan for one's life, transformation of spirit, soul and body occurs through this difficult, yet crucial time. The decisions made during this wintry season determines the outcome! Be encouraged-though the earth be removed and the mountains be thrown into the depths of the sea,my declaration shall be-GOD IS MY REFUGE AND MY STRENGTH,MY VERY PRESENT HELP IN TIMES OF TROUBLE!

Speed Dating

What speed dating is about,a room filled with a bunch of strangers and you have 3 minutes to get to know each person individually.

i was completely nervous when they said in class that we going to have face to face inter-action,I'm not really good with that. The first few strangers I met was not to bad,I was calm but still nevous, then I met Zubeida,I think she is so funny and full of positive attitude.

She have made me feel comfortable with everybody in the class.

My Story Of Hope

My story started when I was about five years old my mom got married to a guy named Peter which we later found out was a mongrel (Gangster) My brother and me was against the idea of mom getting married to someone we dont know so as time unfolds my mother opens a tuckshop soon after that my stepfather started selling beer this was verry new to us see that we were three children not knowing what was surrounding us we grew up in the st montague where we went to the baptist church few years went past and we got used to the circumstances surrounding us at times my brothers had to serve whateva we were selling me as well i started liking my stepfather until he threatens me and my brothers saying that if we dont serve the people we wont get  something to eat then we started hating him with every bone in our bodies we had to serve people with alcohol, drugs and stolen stuff so just two years after that we were so used to this lifestyle didnt go to church anymore and my stephfather starts to fool around with other woman my mom deserved so much better he would hit her time and again just to make his guilt go away and one day while he was beating on her i just had enough and stood in the middle and since that day we started figthing back as a family by this time my olderst brother was in jail for robbing someone few years after that my second youngest brother started using crystal meth and then the youngest one went to jail and i was all alone with no support system i failed matric got married at 18 years old but looking back at my story i realise how gratefull i am to be alive to be me to be gratefefull to say thst i am not a drug addict and and i am a better person because of my curcumstances so guys and gals if you out there going through what i made through then sit back and think about what you want in life strive to be what you want to be and be the best u can be for yourself and others cause today i am a proud mother of two married for nine years i have my own bussiness an remember if you snooze u loose love monique

AMAZING WOMEN

How amazing it is to be a women, I'm talking about a women of influence, a women of worth, a women of power, a women of substance or just an ordinary women. In any of these facets she is worthy to be praised. It takes a women of great strength to accomplish any given task. I see it more and more how women of our generation are rising up in our communities to a standard I have never seen before, they are empowering, educating themselves to be all that they can be. So many times I see women been knocked down, shaken through circumstances but getting up and rising above their challenges. Sometimes we get sidetracked, disillusioned, overcome with fear or hopeless but there is a higher power within us always calling us to go higher, deeper and at the end we find that even we ourselves are amazed at the power within us.

Speed Dating

I have always been never-minded about speed dating. Seen it on television a few times too many, still , it was so uninteresting. Turns out that i would've had the same mindset about it if i have not decided to try it out for myself. In the beginning of the session i have been informed that we would have exactly 3 minutes to get to know every individual seated at the tables in the room. Confident in my ability to collect information, i dived straight into the first 3 minutes.

Asking questions while jotting down information is a task not to be taken lightly. It involves listening while looking down onto the sheet used for jotting down information. Much like dribbling the basketball on the court while looking ahead to pass the ball to an open team mate. Before i knew it, the three minutes were depleted and i had to move to the next person.

Flared with excitement , i started from the top again asking basic and relevent questions , then writing down the information as the compliant answers. I got more and more excited , maybe a little too much forgetting that i too have to answer questions . That turned out looking very unprofessional , so easily corrected though because of the teamwork and co-ordination.
By my 4th speed date session , i kind of got into this groove of asking question , jotting down info and asking questions. It became more like a routine and i was able to create a character profile while exchanging info. Most of the people i traded information with were well above my age and that made me feel like i would've had more fun in the process if it was a crowd in my age range , not that i did'nt have fun. I'm just saying . . .

My story of hope

Good evening!

My name is Shahieda, my story is short, but true.
For the last past two weeks i have lost two family members that was so very close
to me. I ended up in hospital for two days.
I was very shocked to hear of the accident, that i collapsed and ended up in
hospital with highblood pressure and my sugar level went sky high
It was so sad for the family, because it was my uncle and cousin that had died .
I think i was the only one in the family that took it hard.
Through the mercy of the Almighty all the family made it through.
My health is in A-one condition, also through the mercy of the Almighty.
God's richest blessings on those who still with us.

Speed Dating

Last week was the first time that the wife and I came a bit early for class though it was cold and raining as it always does this time of the year here in Cape Town. There was such a feeling of excitement in the air. We had a good check in. The highlight of the check was you have to share " what would look for in the person you meet as a partner in life. To my surprise I was the topic of the evening, but it was fun.The whole class was abuzz with laughter.

The topic that we learn was "speed dating"..that was  fun because you have to interview ten people. Most were very interesting but the was one person who had a outstanding story.

This gentle was of Irish decent but has a English name and surname. He is 77 years old and traveled the whole of Europe. with his family in the 1970 for only R7000.00. He is a walking library.

Speed Dating

My name is Bernard Daniel Joseph, i will relay my experience with at RLABS. Last week (28/08/2013) I had interviewed 9 of my colleagues in the Introduction to Social Media class. One of the two minute sessions I had to sit out, due to the unequal number of participants in the session.

What strike me of the speed dating is that it has given us an opportunity to start knowing each other and from where the participants are coming from. I had two minute sessions with the following namely; Shatfir, Karen, Thursten, Edward, James, Zurinah, Zubeidah, Fagmieda and Monique. Each of them were interesting in different ways, however after the third session you could see that the confidence to communicate in the environment of speed dating has grown. some of them were however very moderate but assertive.

Overall the experience were fulfilling, to interact with people from different backgrounds. The one observation that cut across all the interviewees were the need to empower themselves to be relevant in the new age of technology, therefore giving practical emphasis to the social revolution that is being advocated by RLABS.

Well done RLABS for also allowing me to be part of this social Revolution that you are advocating and to confirm in a few years time that indeed I was part of this Social Revolution. A revolution that you currently taking abroad to empower people to be able to communicate. Just hoping that RLABS will be translate this training to be endorsed or under written by the Service SETA or any of the other SETAs or Higher Education institutions that will join RLABS on this journey to socially revolutionize the world and more specifically SA (Western Cape in particular).
